Saying adieu to 2007
Well, it’s almost 2008, so this is as good a time as any to reflect on the year that’s passed.
This has been a challenging year to say the least. A lot has happened, and not all of it good. I’m not going to go through all the things that have happened this year (I wouldn’t want to bore you), but thought I’d reflect on some of the things I’ve learnt this year.
I’ve learnt that I can’t cope on my own with everything. I discovered that while Connor was in NICU (follow the NICU tags to see the full saga). Sometimes I do in fact need help.
I’ve found new friends this year. Good friends. And I’ve learnt things about my old friends that I didn’t know before.
Going back to work after Connor was a huge adjustment for me. A different role. A different department. A restructured company. I’d missed out on so much, but was expected to know what decisions were made and why. I’ve had to learn to stop trying to control everything, partly because of what I’ve missed out on. Hopefully my career will get back on track next year, and I can regain my control.
We’ve had to say goodbye to quite a few friends this year too. 7 of our friends and acquaintances have left SA in 2007. Thank goodness for the internet to allow us to keep in touch.
Oh, and not to forget blogging
OMW that’s opened up a whole other world! I’m learning to express myself again.
Oooh, and photography. I’ve discovered a new passion, and I’m only starting to learn the craft!!
I can’t think of anymore. That can’t possibly be all I’ve learnt this year, but anyhoo, onwards and upwards! We have 2008 to think about now!
I don’t do resolutions. The only goal I set myself every year is to learn something new, at least one thing. 2007 was blogging and photography, I wonder what 2008 will have in store for me. Here’s hoping this coming year will be a good one for me and my family!
And to all my blog readers, I wish you and your families the most incredible 2008. May all your dreams come true!
