I could have been anyone
I went to collect my renewed driver’s license yesterday afternoon from the licensing department, and thankfully it was a quick and painless exercise, and I now have a valid drivers license again!
But I can find things to moan about in any situation 
I get into the building to be confronted with posters stuck up all over the walls proclaiming that you must produce your ID with your receipt to collect the license. Well, clearly that’s not a pre-requisite, because I couldn’t find my ID book anywhere in my handbag.
The clerk behind the counter just says “don’t worry, give me your receipt” and promptly hands over my license. I didn’t even have to sign anything. They have absolutely NO proof that it was me.
No wonder there’s so many people with fake driver’s licenses driving around South Africa!
but your photo is on your drivers lisence? so maybe she checked that out?
And the reason we have to spend so much on a visa!
Next time I need to go, will you pick mine up too?
That’s scary actually! Even if she did look at the photograph, she has NO proof that you have collect it! And even more frightening is that no matter how much of an honest Joe you look, there are PLENTY of honest Joe’s who AREN’T!
